 Weaving the Queen's Cloak

This is a "Sampler" class in which we offer a preview of our 6 session series
"Age with Joy."
We are basing this workshop on The Queen's Cloak: a Myth for Mid-Life by Joan Chamberlain Englesman. We'll tell you her fairy tale and help you create a collage which embodies the elements of your own "Coming of age story." There will be time at the end of the session to share and exchange insights and to admire each other's creations.

Life Passages

This is a series of 5 mini workshops which can be taken individually or as multiple classes or the participant can take the entire series at a discount.

The Life Passages series which will be 5 mini workshops, 10-2:00 in which we will create 5X7 collage cards following Angeles Arrien's model of the five stages in a person's life: Child, Youth, Adult, Elder and Essence. We will discuss the symbolic and archetypal meaning of each stage. There will be time for a short discussion of our work at the end of each class. 
In the last mini class we will discuss the value of mapping our life passages.  We will  also show you how to mock up your card in order to turn it into a greeting card.
 All supplies included.

Age with Joy

Dates announced in September 

This six week series will be an exploration of the glories and triumphs of becoming an Elder.  It will be about self discovery through the creative processes of art, writing and storytelling. "Age with Joy" welcomes beginners and experienced artists who want to explore the positive aspects of aging and are interested in the inner and outer worlds of life. We shall honor the rich life experience and mastery of the many skills, talents and accomplishments we have acquired by the time we've reached that "certain age." We want to celebrate the freedom and responsibility this time of life brings. Yet, the interior work is never done. The themes we will cover are ... Standing Between Heaven and Earth (Staff) ... Walking Your Talk (Shoes) ... Wisdom of Baubo and Aphrodite (Apron) ... Grandmother Warrior (Breastplate ) ... What Do Women Want? (Crown) ...  Matrix, Context, Continuum (Cloak). Using our knowledge of myth, archetypes and symbols combined with paint, glue, scissors, paper, fabric and fancies we will create personal symbols as reminders of our spiritual journey. If the group wishes, there will be a public celebration of our art. 

This series will begin and end with a full day session. We will also spend four weekday evenings together. All day sessions run from 9:30 to 5:00. The week day evening sessions will be from 6:00 to 9:00.

Space is limited. Sign up early. A $50.00 deposit is required.
Cost of the course: $340.00
All materials included, participants will provide their own shoes.
