You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it."

About Us

Why Collage?

The collage process we use in our classes require just a few simple materials, paper, cut images, scissors, and glue. We offer lots of cut out images and a wide variety of papers for the participants to select from.

Once participants make their selection they move paper and images into a harmonious relationship as if creating a dream. There is no right or wrong, pictures and papers are picked for their appeal. That is what makes collage work fun, unexpected and relatively easy.

The workshops are structured so that a finished work of art can manifest in the course of a single day. We base our workshops on archetypal themes and symbols. The day begins with brief check-in by participants, a small flurry of facts, a touch of ceremony and an occasional short guided meditation.  We attempt to sooth, entice, coax the psyche into allowing the veil between the conscious and unconscious to thin a little.

It is our belief that this interaction between the interior worlds of our being leads spontaneously to art.  We believe that art is a cipher ... a coded message from one's inner self to one's outer, worldlier persona. Collage work incorporates metaphor, association, cliche and pun.

At the end of the day, participants are guided through a brief experiential exploration of the meaning of  their collage. There is a deep joy in creating something meaningful with one's own hands. We are delighted to facilitate this experience.
